Job summary

Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME is seeking a First Cook to perform a variety of kitchen duties including food preparation, serving customers, cleaning, stocking, cashiering, and temperature checks. The role supports service operations and ensures safe, sanitary food handling.

A sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates. Experience in food handling and basic arithmetic with cash handling skills are preferred.

Summary

The First Cook role performs a variety of duties normally performed in serving customers, preparing food, transporting and emptying trash receptacles, cleaning the kitchen, serving and seating areas, assisting in receiving and storing stock, cashiering, checking and recording hot and cold temperatures and washing dishes.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience demonstrating the ability to perform safe food handling, prep and sanitation techniques required.
• Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Ability to perform basic arithmetic, possess computer and computerized cash register skills and ability to handle cash, make change and count money as required by some duties.

The pay range for this position is $21.97to $29.28 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
