Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years as an Apprentice Lineman or completion of an approved Lineman Training Program.
  • Valid Ohio CDL and current First Aid and CPR certifications required.

We are currently seeking a First Class Lineman at our Utica, OH Service Center. This is a full-time, non-exempt, highly technical role responsible for erecting and repairing distribution and transmission lines of various classes and voltages, including substations, energized lines, and related equipment involved in electricity distribution and transmission.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support and embody the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision, and Values in professional conduct and decision-making.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and safety protocols, and adhere to attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Enforce safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions.
  • Install, retire, and maintain overhead and underground lines, energized or de-energized, and operate related equipment and tools.
  • Operate system devices, locate and repair underground cables.
  • Patrol and maintain the electrical distribution and transmission system.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff for inventory and maintenance of the warehouse and pole yard.
  • Install, maintain, and retire street lights and related equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections of tools and trucks, and replace safety gear as needed.
  • Participate in on-call duties, respond to outages and emergencies promptly, including unscheduled work.
  • Maintain positive relationships internally with staff and externally with members, contractors, and the public.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Candidates must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required or preferred:

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma required; a two-year college degree or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of four years as an Apprentice Lineman or completion of an approved Lineman Training Program with field training and safety standards knowledge.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Valid Ohio CDL, good driving record, current First Aid and CPR certifications. Ability to attend training sessions as needed.
  • Skills: Ability to interpret safety rules and manuals, hazard recognition, familiarity with safety equipment, and ability to work under stress and in emergency situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The role requires walking, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, operating tools and equipment, and working in adverse weather conditions. Pre-employment and random drug testing are required.
