We are currently seeking a First Class Lineman at our Utica, OH Service Center. This full-time, non-exempt, highly technical role involves erection and repair of distribution and transmission lines of various classes and voltages, including work on substations, energized lines, structures, and equipment involved in the electrical distribution and transmission network.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support and embody the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision, and Values in all professional conduct and decisions.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and maintain punctuality.
  • Enforce safety and security procedures, reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Install, retire, and maintain overhead and underground lines, both energized and de-energized, and operate related equipment.
  • Locate and repair faults on underground cables.
  • Inspect and maintain overhead and underground lines.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to maintain inventory and facility upkeep.
  • Install and maintain street lighting and related equipment.
  • Complete inspections and scheduled exchanges of safety gear.
  • Participate in on-call duties, respond to outages and emergencies promptly, including after-hours and holiday work.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; a two-year college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of four years as an Apprentice Lineman or completion of an approved Lineman Training Program.
  • Proficiency in pole top and bucket rescue techniques.
  • Valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean record.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate safety rules, procedures, and manuals.
  • Strong hazard recognition skills and familiarity with safety equipment.
  • Physical ability to climb poles, work at heights, lift heavy objects, and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Pre-employment physical and drug testing required, with possible random testing during employment.
