Job summary

UPMC Williamsport Surgical Services is seeking a full-time First Assist in General Surgery. The role requires assisting during operations, preparing the OR, and maintaining sterile technique under physician direction. 40 hours per week with days and limited weekend/holiday rotation.

Associates degree in Surgical Technology with at least 1 year of OR experience is preferred. CST certification and completion of STFA program within 2 years are required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Surgical Tech preferred.
• 1 year of operating room experience required.
• CST certification required; STFA program completion within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon during operations and prepare supplies.
• Position, prep, and drape patient for surgery.
• Maintain sterile technique and instrument management.
• Support homeostasis and tissue handling as directed by surgeon.
• Ensure patient privacy and advocate for safety and quality.
