Job summary

Western Digital Corp. is seeking a Manager, Firmware Development to lead a team responsible for embedded firmware across storage products.

You will shape the technical direction, guide architecture, and partner with hardware, validation, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality firmware solutions. The role requires strong leadership, a solid foundation in C/C++, and experience guiding products through full development cycles from concept to release.

Qualifications

• + Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (EE/CS).
• + 7+ years of embedded/firmware experience with leadership.
• + 1+ year of people management experience; performance coaching.
• + Strong embedded systems knowledge and C/C++ proficiency.
• + Experience guiding full product development cycles from concept to release.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of firmware engineers across architecture, design, and debugging.
• Define goals, priorities, and execution plans aligned with product roadmaps and quality targets.
• Drive disciplined firmware development practices including reviews, standards, tests, and release readiness.
• Provide technical leadership for embedded firmware, including data structures, drivers, and hardware interfaces.
• Collaborate with ASIC, hardware, systems, validation, and manufacturing teams to deliver complete solutions.
