Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead embedded firmware initiatives across cross-functional teams. You will guide technical direction, manage a team of engineers, and drive initiatives for scalability and reliability in firmware features for Chrome OS/Android devices.

You will collaborate with product managers, hardware teams, and ODMs/OEMs on new technology proposals while overseeing budgets and program timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 8-9 engineers.
• Work with a larger team of engineers and product managers to design and develop firmware features.
• Evaluate and help improve firmware code and processes for scalability and maintainability.
• Participate in board bring-ups and work with partners to deliver new Chrome OS and Android devices.
• Collaborate with a global team of software and hardware engineers on new technology proposals and process improvements.
