Job summary

Copeland seeks an experienced Firmware Engineering Manager to lead our embedded systems team, focusing on secure, scalable IoT products and regulatory alignment under the EU Cyber Resilience Act. You will guide firmware security controls, OTA updates, and vulnerability management across the SDLC.

You will bridge low-level firmware with security architecture and regulatory compliance while mentoring a team of engineers to deliver secure, reliable devices for a global market.

Qualifications

• 8+ years embedded firmware development experience for IoT devices.
• 3+ years in engineering management or tech lead role.
• Experience implementing firmware security primitives: Secure Boot, cryptographic hardware, TLS/mTLS, memory protection, secure storage.
• Hands-on knowledge of regulatory standards (EU CRA, ETSI EN 303 645, NIST SP 800-213, IEC 62443).
• Authorization to work in the United States — sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Secure architecture design and CRA-aligned security controls for firmware.
• Automate SBOM creation and dependency management in build pipelines.
• Oversee secure OTA updates and patch management processes.
• Establish vulnerability and incident management with CRA compliance.
• Manage technical documentation and conformity activities.
