Job summary

Copeland, a global climate technology company, seeks an experienced Firmware Engineering Manager to lead our embedded systems team with a focus on regulatory alignment under the EU CRA. You will guide secure, scalable IoT firmware while ensuring our SDLC meets cybersecurity requirements.

You will bridge low-level firmware, security architecture, and compliance, delivering secure-by-design devices with vulnerability management and robust OTA updates throughout their lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in embedded firmware development (C/C++, RTOS, Embedded Linux)
• 3+ years in engineering management or tech lead
• Experience implementing firmware security primitives: Secure Boot, cryptographic hardware, TLS/mTLS, memory protection
• Hands-on with security frameworks and regulatory standards (EU Cyber Resilience Act, ETSI EN 303 645, NIST SP 800-213, IEC 62443)
• Authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship not provided

Responsibilities

• Lead firmware security controls aligned with CRA standards
• Oversee OTA update mechanisms with secure signatures
• Establish automated SBOM generation and vulnerability scanning in CI/CD
• Manage embedded firmware team and mentor engineers
• Collaborate with Product, Hardware, Legal/Compliance and Cloud IoT teams
• Interface with external auditors and security researchers during assessments
