Job summary

Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies in Lakewood, CO is hiring a Firmware Engineer for medical devices. The role covers bring-up on new hardware, writing drivers, and real-time control loops within embedded Linux environments and Yocto-based stacks.

You will collaborate with Electrical, Systems, Software, DevOps, and Quality teams to ensure device reliability and regulatory compliance (IEC 62304, ISO 13485). Hybrid work 3 days on-site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of embedded firmware development with board bring-up.
• Experience in regulated industries (medical, automotive, or aerospace) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++ on resource-constrained targets.

Responsibilities

• Own board bring-up and verify power sequencing, clocks, memory, and peripherals.
• Write, port, and debug device drivers and low-level interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, GPIO).
• Develop firmware for real-time control loops on hardware (motors, valves, pumps, heaters).
• Maintain embedded Linux stack on NXP i.MX platforms with Yocto builds.
• Evaluate MCU architectures for future platforms and prototype benchmarks.
• Optimize firmware for speed, memory, and energy.
• Develop bootloaders and secure boot; manage firmware updates.
