Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies in Lakewood, CO is seeking a Firmware Engineer to deliver robust embedded software for medical devices. You will own board bring-up, write drivers, and develop real-time control loops on ARM-based MCUs and embedded Linux, shaping reliability and regulatory compliance.

Collaborating with Electrical, Systems, Software, DevOps, and Quality teams, you will design within Yocto, develop bootloaders, and implement secure update paths while aligning with IEC 62304, ISO

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ on resource-constrained embedded targets.
• Hands-on microcontroller and SoC development on ARM-based architectures.
• Board bring-up and hardware debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD debuggers.
• Low-level I/O and serial protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, GPIO).
• Embedded Linux internals and device drivers, kernel and BSPs, Yocto Build environment.

Responsibilities

• Own board bring-up on new hardware, verify power sequencing, clocks, memory, peripherals.
• Write, port, and debug device drivers and low-level interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, GPIO).
• Develop firmware for real-time control loops operating motors, valves, pumps and heaters.
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux stack on NXP i.MX platforms within Yocto.
• Evaluate microcontroller architectures for future platforms and prototypes.
• Optimize firmware for speed, memory footprint, and power on constrained targets.
• Develop bootloaders, secure boot, and firmware update paths.
• Translate requirements into firmware designs and produce regulatory documentation.
• Plan and execute firmware verification and validation with automated tests.
• Mentor engineers and participate in code/design reviews.
• Contribute to software risk assessments and cybersecurity practices.
