Job summary

Itron is seeking a Firmware Engineer Intern to join our Product Development team in West Union, South Carolina, starting January 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in embedded Linux firmware for Itron electric meters and work with engineers on debugging, test automation, and data analysis.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a related technical degree, with strong programming fundamentals, good communication, and a collaborative mindset. Onsite work at West Union is required.

Qualifications

Pursuing a related technical degree (e.g., CS, CE, EE).
Strong fundamentals in programming and OOP.
Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

Support firmware and software development for embedded systems.
Assist with requirements, development planning, coding, testing and documentation.
Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot firmware components under guidance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
