Job summary

Itron is seeking a Firmware Engineer Intern to join our Product Development team in West Union, South Carolina, beginning in January 2027. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of embedded Linux firmware for Itron electric meters.

You will work alongside firmware engineers, test engineers, and technicians on meaningful projects involving firmware and hardware debugging, test applications, automation, and test-data

Qualifications

• Pursuing a technical degree related to firmware or computer engineering.
• Experience or coursework in embedded Linux would be a plus.
• Strong coding fundamentals and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with firmware and software development activities for embedded systems.
• Support design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of firmware.
• Document findings and contribute to test plans and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Participate in meetings and communicate project status clearly.
