Job summary

Figure, an AI robotics company, is seeking a Firmware Engineer Intern for Winter 2027 in San Jose, CA. You will help bring our humanoid robots to life by supporting board bring-up, developing and validating firmware features, and assisting with integration and testing.

You'll design firmware in C/C++ for motor controllers, build Python tools for test automation, contribute to CI/CD, and work with hardware teams in the lab.

Qualifications

• Senior/graduate in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• 10 weeks internship; 1–2 terms preferred.
• Proficient in C, C++, Python.
• Experience with bare-metal/RTOS and computer architecture.
• Familiar with Ethernet, EtherCAT, CAN, USB.
• Comfortable using oscilloscope and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and test firmware for motor controllers and sensing hardware.
• Develop Python tools to support test automation and hardware calibration.
• Contribute to CI/CD infrastructure and tooling.
• Support hardware/software integration in the lab.
