Job summary

Normal Computing is seeking a Firmware Engineer to create low-level software for our SOC and embedded processors, bridging physics-inspired ASICs with higher software levels. You will implement APIs, debug across prototypes, and specify the development environment using compilers, simulators, and debuggers.

You will collaborate with software and hardware teams, verify firmware to production quality, and contribute to the tooling that enables reliable AI acceleration hardware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of firmware development experience.
• Specification and creation of a firmware development environment for a shipping product.
• Expertise in various firmware languages and target architectures.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for an embedded processor on an SoC to support an API bridging higher software to hardware.
• Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to define API requirements.
• Create and configure the development environment with compilers, simulators, and debuggers across multiple environments (software simulation, RTL simulation, physical hardware).
• Develop a verification and stress test plan to ensure production-quality firmware.
