Job summary

Sanmina Corporation in Colorado Springs is seeking a Firmware Development Intern to gain hands‑on experience within the VES development group. Reporting to the Firmware Engineering Manager, you will assist in firmware code development on BMC/SES platforms and contribute to storage and server product designs.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, in 2nd–4th year.
• Foundational understanding of embedded system design concepts.
• Familiarity with C/C++ programming and object‑oriented principles.
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows/Unix operating systems.
• Exposure to system‑level debugging, hardware/software integration, or scripting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist firmware architects and hardware design teams with gathering early input on firmware design requirements.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of high‑level and low‑level design documents.
• Participate in firmware code development, bug fixes, and unit testing under guidance of senior engineers.
• Collaborate with the project team during code reviews, hardware/firmware integration, and testing.
• Learn and assist with debugging firmware issues on BMC/SES to support resolving technical problems.
• Provide regular status updates on assigned development tasks to project leads.

Job Purpose

As a Firmware Development Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience by participating in firmware engineering activities within the VES development group. Reporting to the Firmware Engineering Manager, you will assist in supporting cutting‑edge data storage and server product designs in Colorado Springs. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to firmware code development on BMC/SES platforms, collaborate on real‑world projects, work alongside experienced firmware architects, and learn how enterprise hardware and software integrate in a production environment.

Nature of Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist firmware architects and hardware design teams with gathering early input on firmware design requirements.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of high‑level and low‑level design documents.
• Participate in firmware code development, bug fixes, and unit testing under the guidance of senior engineers.

Education and Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (m ust be in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Foundational understanding of embedded system design concepts.
• Familiarity with C/C++ programming and object‑oriented principles.
• Basic knowledge of various operating systems (Linux, Windows, Unix).
• Familiarity with server/storage system architectures, BMC, or BIOS is a plus.
• Exposure to system‑level debugging, hardware/software integration, or scripting is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a eagerness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.
