Job summary

Renesas is seeking a Principal Firmware Architect to define the embedded software architecture for UALink Switch products, bridging ASIC design with higher-level orchestration layers. The role focuses on latency, bandwidth, and reliability across thousands of accelerators.

You will drive hardware-software co-design, protocol implementation, and platform APIs while guiding RTL, verification, and firmware teams to ensure scalable, secure, and deterministic performance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of hands-on embedded systems firmware experience.
• Experience in server platform architecture or low-level silicon firmware development.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end embedded firmware architecture for UALink Switch products.
• Bridge silicon design (ASIC) with upper-layer orchestration software.
• Specify firmware interfaces, registers, scratchpads, and memory maps.
• Design firmware stack for UALink physical, link, and transport layers.
• Develop deterministic link-training state machines for high-speed connections.
• Lead platform orchestration APIs (OpenBMC/Redfish) for BMC exposure.
