Job summary

Advance Tank and Construction is seeking FIELD FIRE/HOLE WATCH/UTILITY SITE PERSONNEL to monitor hot work sites and prevent fires across project locations. The role requires training, the ability to pass a physical and drug test, and readiness to wear respirators when required.

Responsibilities include staying vigilant for hazards, taking air samples, reporting findings, and assisting with site tasks. Travel across the United States and working in all weather are expected.

Qualifications

• Must read and write in English to assist in forms for tank entry.
• Must pass a post-hire physical and a substance abuse test when required.
• Must be medically capable of wearing a respirator when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Stay alert and vigilant for fire hazards on the control area.
• Monitor hot work sites after training to identify fire hazards.
• Grab and operate firefighting equipment (approx. 20–30 lbs) if fire occurs.
• Climb vertical ladders and use fall protection equipment as needed.
• Take air samples around hot work to detect flammable vapors.
• Prepare written reports detailing duties as required.
• Develop a non-verbal signaling system with watched workers.
• Assist with site cleanup and moving welding leads as requested.
• Operate a company van between worksites as needed.

Job description

JOB TITLE: FIELD FIRE/HOLE WATCH/UTILITY SITE PERSONNEL

SUPERVISOR: FIELD FOREMAN/SUPERINTENDENT

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to perform all duties safely.

Must be able to be able to pass appropriate training on fire watch or hole watch, or have experience working in this capacity;

Must be able to read and write in English in order to assist in forms preparation for tank entry; and

Must be able to pass a post hire physical verifying ability to perform essential functions of job and a substance abuse test whenever required by Advance Tank or its customers.

Must be medically capable of wearing and using a respirator when necessary, as determined by a pulmonary

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND TASKS:

Must be able to perform all duties safely.

Ability to stay alert and vigilant for long periods of time, survey area of control for release of flammable liquids, vapors or potential fire hazards;

After training, watch a hot work site and monitor potential fire hazards;

Should fire occur, grab firefighting equipment and use it to put fire out, this means you must be able to carry and operate said equipment with approximate weight of 20-30 pounds;

Must be capable of climbing a vertical ladder and using tools of the trade at that height, such as fall protection equipment;

After training, learn to take air samples in the immediate area of the hot work in order to determine if flammable vapors reside;

Prepare written reports regarding duties as necessary;

Must be able to develop a non-verbal signal system with the worker or workers which are being watched.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND TASKS:

Assist with other duties on site, such as assisting with site clean-up, moving weld leads out of way of welding sparks or trip hazards, or other site maintenance as asked by site superintendent.

Be able to drive a company van from work site to parking lot or to lunch room with van load of

other employees

SCHEDULE:

The work is scheduled for Monday through Friday, often ten hours a day. However, often the customer dictates the working hours, so may need to work hours prescribed by the customer. Furthermore, overtime is required in this job.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Worker is on feet or sitting all day, and work is done outside in all weather conditions. Worker will be required to wear a hardhat, safety glasses, and ear plugs at all times, and fall protection equipment when climbing over 6 feet, or respirator when required by Customer or work. Work requires moving from jobsite to jobsite all over the United States. Should work require wearing a respirator, worker will need to be clean-shaven.
