Job summary

RectorSeal Fire Test Lab in Houston, TX, seeks a motivated Firestop Technician Installer to join our hands-on lab team. You will construct and install firestop systems that support endurance testing, collaborating with engineers and technicians to advance new firestop solutions.

This full-time role requires reading schematics, using hand and power tools, and maintaining accurate test documentation in a fast-paced lab environment, with daily hours 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications

• Read tape measures, technical drawings, and life safety schematics.
• Basic computer skills for documentation (MS Word, Outlook).
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

• Install firestop assemblies per test plans and UL standards.
• Measure, cut, and assemble materials with hand/power tools.
• Work with drywall, mineral wool, sealants, pipe insulation, and metal framing.
• Set up/break down test frames and fire-rated assemblies.
• Maintain clear documentation for each test setup.
• Collaborate with lab engineers to evaluate and improve firestop systems.
• Conduct research using UL directory and internal docs.
• Follow lab safety protocols.
