About the Firestop Technician Role

The Firestop Technician is a traveling technician, who inspects, installs and repairs firestop material in commercial and healthcare facilities across the U.S. The individual in this role will help facility managers meet compliance standards set by the National Fire Protection Association, the International Code Council, the Joint Commission, State Fire Marshals, Insurance Risk Auditors and other regulatory agencies which require the periodic inspection of passive fire protection systems.

  • Inspection of firewalls per NFPA code
  • Install and repair firestop material in existing facilities per NFPA code
  • Provide accurate documentation for customers code compliance
  • Maintain professional and regular communication with customers
  • Attend job training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Experience in firestopping methodology helpful
  • Three years of firestopping experience a plus
  • OSHA 10 or willing to obtain upon hire
  • Must provide own tools
  • Must be able to travel
  • Ability to interpret life safety drawings
  • Experience in customer service and working with the public
  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Good record keeping and tracking of facilities inspections
  • Professional appearance
  • Perform quality work within deadlines
  • Some knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word, email and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel on a rotation of ten days on and two days off
  • At least 21 years of age (insurance purposes)
  • Must provide own tools
  • Professional appearance
