Job summary

CMG CONTRACTORS INC is seeking a senior leader to spearhead estimating, preconstruction, field operations, and strategic growth across commercial fireproofing projects in Nashville. You will oversee bid development, ensure compliance with SFRM/intumescent specs, and drive margin improvement through strong vendor partnerships.

This role requires 7–10+ years of experience, advanced reading of drawings, and proven ability to manage multi-project pipelines while maintaining safety and quality on

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of commercial fireproofing experience is expected.
• Ability to read architectural and structural drawings and interpret UL designs.
• Experience handling RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeouts.
• Valid driver’s license required for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete takeoffs, pricing, and proposal development using specs, tested UL assemblies, W/D and A/P geometry factors, and jobsite logistics.
• Lead site planning, crew loading, equipment setup, and trade sequencing with rigorous QC and cost tracking.
• Build and maintain vendor relationships to support competitive estimating and profitable project execution.
• Develop and refine division standards, benchmarks, and startup/closeout workflows.

• Estimating & Preconstruction: Perform complete takeoff, pricing, and proposal development using Division 07 specs, tested UL assemblies, W/D and A/P geometry factors, and jobsite logistics to deliver accurate, profitable bids.
• Technical & Code Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to SFRM and intumescent coating specs, IBC codes, and ASTM testing standards (E119, E605, E736), overseeing proper substrate prep and approved designs.
• Field Operations & Quality Control: Lead site planning, crew loading, equipment setup, and trade sequencing while maintaining rigorous QC, thickness/adhesion monitoring, and job-cost tracking from startup to closeout.
• Business Development & Division Leadership: Build local GC and partner relationships to maintain a strong pipeline, hit revenue and backlog targets, and refine the company's historical production/estimating database.

Division Leadership & Strategy

• Build & Lead the Division: Recruit and train field crews, foremen, and estimators while instilling an ownership mindset focused on life-safety compliance and profitability.
• Establish Operational Standards: Develop estimating benchmarks, material-yield targets, job-cost controls, QC/safety protocols, and project startup/closeout workflows.
• Drive Business & Margin Improvement: Build strong vendor/supplier partnerships, leverage product/pricing knowledge, and conduct post-job reviews to continuously improve estimating accuracy and field execution.

Required Experience & Capabilities

• Industry Mastery: 7–10+ years of commercial fireproofing experience, combining independent SFRM/intumescent estimating with field leadership.
• Technical & Project Management: Proven ability to read architectural/structural drawings, interpret UL-tested designs, manage crew/equipment logistics, and handle GC relations (RFIs, submittals, change orders, closeouts).
• Core Qualifications: Strong computer, estimating, and multi-project communication skills; valid driver's license for jobsite visits.
