Job summary

City of Garland is seeking qualified candidates for examination for a Firefighter/Paramedic role, performing fire suppression, rescue, EMS, prevention, and investigations. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of examination, and not 36 years of age or older at the time of examination.
• High School Graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

Responsibilities

• Perform fire suppression and other rescue operations.
• Search for and/or rescue trapped or injured persons.
• Assist in implementing continuous fire prevention activities.
• Respond to medical services calls.
• Administer first aid and emergency medical services to sick or injured persons to level authorized by Paramedic certification.
• Perform various administrative duties.
• May participate on department committees and attend staff meetings.
• Participate in routine housekeeping and preventative maintenance.
