Job summary

Village of Tequesta seeks a Firefighter/Paramedic to join the Fire Rescue Department. Duties include firefighting, EMS, and water/technical rescues, with a demanding 24/48 shift pattern and active community safety programs.

Applicants must be Florida-certified firefighters and paramedics, with EVOC/CEVO, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass multiple tests (fitness, swim, ladder, medical). Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Florida firefighter certification (Chapter 633.34).
• Florida paramedic certification (64J, Florida Statute 401).
• Valid Florida driver’s license with clean record in last 3 years.
• EVOC/CEVO certification.
• No felony convictions in last seven years.
• Tobacco-free for 12 months prior to appointment.
• Pass physical agility, swim, ladder climb, and medical exams.
• Pass thorough background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform firefighting duties and operate fire apparatus.
• Respond to water rescue and high-angle/heavy rescue incidents.
• Participate in drills and training in firefighting, EMS, hazardous materials and related subjects.
• Operate radios and communications equipment.
• Use safety equipment under hazardous conditions.
• Provide emergency medical care up to ALS/BLS as required.
• Document EMS care on proper forms as required by law.
• Transport patients to hospitals by ambulance when necessary.
• Collect and dispose of infectious waste properly.
• Perform maintenance on fire facilities and equipment.
• Present safety and fire prevention programs to the community.
• Handle administrative tasks: writing, spreadsheets, databases.
