City of Corsicana invites applications for a Firefighter position with the Corsicana Fire Department. The role covers responding to fire, rescue and medical incidents, plus ensuring equipment maintenance and accurate records.

Applicants must be 18–35 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and have Firefighter certification with Paramedic or EMT certification, or related credentials. An entry-level exam is set for December 12, 2026 at the Corsicana Government Center.

Responds to emergency fire, rescue and medical incidents; provides support function, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, emergency responses, records and reporting duties, and emergency medical treatment including but not limited to medical emergencies, trauma emergencies and inter facility transports. Plans, organizes, directs and controls fire/rescue and medical service functions within applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.

This position requires the human relations skills necessary to deal effectively with the public. Applicants for this position must meet the entrance requirements as stated in the Firemen's and Policemen's Civil Service Law and the City of Corsicana Local Civil Service Rules; have or be able to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the duties and assume the responsibilities of the position.

An Entry Level Exam for the Corsicana Fire Department will be held on December 12, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the Corsicana Government Center, 200 N 12th St, Corsicana, TX 75110.

Recruit II (Single Certified) $70,720/Year

Recruit III (Fully Certified) $71,920/Year

Firefighter $73,549/Year

Required minimum qualifications:

• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and must not have reached 36 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• To be considered for an entry level position applicants must, by the time of hire, possess one of the following:

1. 1. Firefighter certification and Paramedic or EMT certification
   2. Paramedic certification
   3. EMT certification and applicant must be enrolled in a training academy to obtain Firefighter certification.
   4. Completion of an academy to obtain Firefighter certification and applicant must be enrolled in a school curriculum to obtain EMT certification

Hiring preference may be given to applicants that possess the required certifications in the above order. Certifications must be obtained through Texas Commission on Fire Protection and Texas Department of State Health Services. All City of Corsicana Firefighter employees must successfully pass the National Registry examination upon completion of academy.

Required documentation at time of application:

• Evidence of certification by the TCFP or evidence of current enrollment in a training academy
• Evidence of certification by the Texas DSHS as a Paramedic or EMT or evidence of current enrollment in an EMT class
• Evidence of certification of National Registry
• Form DD-214 – Applicants with military service will have 5 points added to their written test score (with passing score of 70) provided they submit a DD-214 stating an Honorable Discharge.
