Job summary

City of Montclair is seeking a Firefighter/Paramedic to respond to alarms, protect life and property, assist in prevention inspections, and participate in training. Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience.

Eligible firefighters may receive longevity conduct pay of 2.5% for every five years of continuous city service. Must hold valid California Firefighter I certification and Paramedic license, plus Class C driver's license and ACLS/CPR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Firefighter I certification or equivalent with IFSAC/Pro Board acceptable.
• Current Paramedic license required or within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fire alarms, rescue, and emergency calls; protects life and property; conducts daily inspections; participates in training and maintains facilities.
• Operates fire apparatus and equipment; provides first aid and rescue; maintains records; inspects structures for fire prevention compliance.
• May serve in acting positions; supports administration and public education activities on request.
