Job summary

McCrady Fire Department seeks a Firefighter to respond to fire emergencies, rescues, hazmat and medical calls on a military installation. The role requires 24-hour standby, operating fire apparatus, and performing preventive maintenance on gear and vehicles.

You will participate in training, provide EMR-level medical assistance, and may assume command if the Senior Fire Officer is unavailable. Some duties include a formal background check and physical standards compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and Firefighter II certification (IFSAC/ProBoard).
• Valid South Carolina driver's license; ability to obtain federal license if required.
• Must meet NFPA-1582 medical standards with SCBA use capability.
• Knowledge of Fire Prevention procedures and Fire Apparatus Drive/Operator Qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire emergencies, rescues, hazmat and medical calls.
• Provide 24-hour standby for fire suppression and rescue operations.
• Operate fire apparatus and related equipment; perform preventive maintenance.
• Participate in training and evaluation exercises; provide EMR-level medical aid.
• Assume incident command in the absence of a Senior Fire Officer; perform other duties as required.
