Job summary

McCrady Fire Department seeks a Firefighter II to respond to emergencies and perform rescue, hazmat and medical operations on a military installation. The role includes 24-hour standby for fire suppression, driving apparatus, and performing preventive maintenance on equipment.

The candidate must have a high school diploma, Firefighter II certification (IFSAC/ProBoard), a SC driver's license, and NFPA-1582 physical standards with SCBA capability. Shift pattern is 24 on/24 off across three shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and Firefighter II (IFSAC/ProBoard).
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license; ability to obtain federal driver’s license if required.
• Must meet NFPA-1582 physical standards and be able to wear SCBA.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire emergencies, rescues, hazmat and medical calls.
• Operate fire apparatus and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, tools and protective clothing.
• Participate in training and evaluation exercises.
• Provide medical assistance at the EMR level or higher.
• In absence of a Senior Fire Officer, assume command of the emergency scene until relieved.
• Perform other duties as assigned by higher fire authorities.
