Job summary

The City of Walla Walla Fire Department is seeking a Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic to protect life and property through fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical aid. You will engage in fire suppression, rescue operations, EMS care and ongoing training to maintain state and department certifications.

Ideal candidates are at least 21, hold WA EMT or Paramedic certification, have a valid WA driver’s license, and meet department physical and medical standards; bilingual in

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• WA EMT or Paramedic certification required; NR-EMT/Paramedic accepted with transfer.
• Valid WA driver's license with clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to meet physical/medical standards.
• Two years of Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in fire suppression including structural, automotive, chemical, aircraft, and wild land fires.
• Operate pumps, ladders, hoses and other equipment to suppress fires.
• Provide EMS care and ambulance operations within certification level.
• Perform fire prevention inspections and community education.
• Conduct salvage, overhaul, and search-and-rescue operations as needed.
• Maintain equipment, vehicles, and station facilities; participate in training.
