Job summary

The North Slope Borough Fire Department is seeking a career ladder firefighter/EMT trainee to respond to emergencies, perform fire suppression, rescue, and medevac duties, and travel to North Slope villages for training.

As a regular member, you will assist with training, maintain certifications, manage equipment, and support special projects as needed. You must obtain required certifications within six months and hold a valid Alaska driver’s license. This is an alcohol- and drug-free workplace.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED; related work experience may apply.
• Ability to obtain Firefighter/EMT Trainee certifications within six months of hire.
• Valid Alaska Driver’s License that meets NSB criteria.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies and perform fire fighting, rescue, EMS and medevac duties.
• Assist Battalion Chief/Training Officer with training and instruction.
• Travel to North Slope villages to provide support and training.
• Maintain equipment, readiness of gear and supplies; perform inspections.
