Job summary

The Pauma Band of Mission Indians is seeking a Firefighter who is a self-starter and highly motivated to carry out department responsibilities with minimal direction. The role blends traditional fire service values with modern business practices to support the Pauma community.

Candidates must be at least 18, possess a High School Diploma or GED, and hold California Firefighter 1 and EMT certifications, with a valid CA Driver’s License and CPR for healthcare provider.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Graduation from a State of California Firefighter 1 Academy or Firefighter 1 certification issued by the OSFM, and certification as a California State Certified EMT.
• Must maintain California Driver’s License; EMT accreditation; CPR for healthcare provider.
• Residency within Pauma department boundary in CA counties as specified.

Responsibilities

• Responds to Fire Alarms, Medical Aids, and Emergencies to protect life, property, and environment.
• Training: Monthly and yearly training as set by Pauma Fire Dept. Training Officer.
• Prevention: Public education and building inspections.
• Maintains: Engine and brush equipment, station equipment, and building maintenance.
