Job summary

North Whidbey Fire & Rescue District (NWFR) is seeking full-time Firefighter/EMT positions funded through the FEMA SAFER grant. Six positions for a three-year period with continued funding contingent on local support.

Join a district serving 55 square miles on North Whidbey Island with seven stations and EMS, marine rescue, and technical rescue capabilities. Selected candidates will work a 1-on/3-off, 2-on/3-off schedule and receive comprehensive medical benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• U.S. Citizen.
• High School Graduate (or equivalent).
• Washington State EMT certification required.
• One year of experience as firefighter/EMT (paid or volunteer).
• Successful NWFR testing process and background check.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies including firefighting and EMS, and public safety incidents.
• Engage in fire inspections, public education, and training activities.
• Operate fire apparatus, hoses, ladders, pumps, and related equipment.
• Participate in maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds.
• Maintain compliance with district policies and procedures.
• Provide emergency medical services and rescue operations as needed.
