A leading public safety agency in Nevada is seeking a Firefighter-AEMT to perform critical emergency response and firefighting duties. This role involves operational supervision, public education on fire safety, and equipment readiness. Candidates should have experience in firefighting, possess a valid driver's license, and be ready for flexible shifts in a community-focused environment.
Candidates successfully hired through the Firefighter Lateral process may be eligible to receive credit for time served. Pay shall be provided at 5% above or below the candidate’s current base wages with their previous employer, without exceeding SCFPD step 5 (out of possible 7 steps). Lateral candidates will receive a preloaded leave balance of 48 hours of annual leave and 96 hours of sick leave.
Under direction, this position is responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks related to fire suppression, emergency medical response, rescue operations, hazardous materials mitigation, equipment maintenance, and station duties. The role involves responding to emergencies, training, supervising staff in the absence of a fire captain, and participating in community safety activities. The position requires evening and weekend shifts at various locations within the district.
The Firefighter-AEMT is tasked with motivating, supervising, and developing training programs for both paid and volunteer firefighters, under the guidance of the Fire Captain. Responsibilities include non-emergency activities such as fire safety education, pre-fire planning, and on-shift training, as well as maintaining fire station and equipment readiness. The Firefighter-AEMT must be proficient in firefighting and emergency medical duties.

Experience and Training:
The duties include responding to fire alarms, operating firefighting and rescue equipment, directing operations, extricating victims, administering first aid, and participating in overhaul and salvage operations. The Firefighter-AEMT may serve as initial incident commander, develop training programs, assist with fire prevention activities, and maintain reports and documentation. The role also involves public interaction, apparatus operation, and ensuring safety and readiness of personnel and equipment.
