Job summary

City of Springdale Fire Department seeks a full-time Firefighter/EMT to respond 24/7 to emergencies, providing medical care, fire suppression, and rescue operations while maintaining readiness and public safety.

The role requires excellent customer service, strong teamwork, and commitment to ongoing training in fire, EMS, HazMat, and safety education for the community. Candidates must meet state certifications and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or related experience.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Firefighter I & II Standards Certification, Arkansas EMT, HazMat Ops, CPR, NIMS IC S-100/700 are required.
• Must operate complex fire and rescue equipment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical treatment and transport for injured citizens.
• Emergency response for fire suppression, EMS, HazMat, and special rescues.
• Perform search and rescue operations during fires to locate and remove victims.
• Conduct ventilation operations to remove smoke and heat from structures.
• Participate in training classes and drills to maintain firefighting and EMS skills.
• Public education and fire safety education with children, adults and schools.
• Regularly maintain station and equipment and assist with truck and equipment checks.
