Job summary

Forsyth County Department of Emergency Services is seeking a Firefighter to perform firefighting, rescue, and EMS duties and to assist in prevention inspections and investigations. The role requires operation of equipment at fire scenes with proficiency and adherence to incident command.

The successful candidate will hold Firefighter II and EMT-Basic or higher, plus HazMat Ops and a valid driver’s license. A rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Firefighter II Certification is required.
• EMT-Basic or higher required.
• Hazardous Materials Responder/Operations required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• NFPA/reciprocity certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire alarms and medical calls; operate firefighting and rescue equipment at the scene.
• Assist with fire prevention inspections and origin investigations as needed.
• Perform firefighting, rescue, extinguishment, salvage and overhaul activities.
• Maintain readiness of tools, equipment, and apparatus for operations.
• Prepare required reports and documentation; participate in training and drills.
• Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
