Job summary

The City of Brenham is seeking a Firefighter to respond to emergencies under general supervision. You will operate and maintain fire suppression vehicles and equipment, assist with training, and support department administrative duties.

Starting pay is $16.52 per hour based on 2912 annual hours. Residency requirements may apply for civil emergency calls. Candidates must attach TCFP and EMR certifications and obtain a Class B driver's license within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic firefighter certification (TCFP) and EMR certification.
• Valid Class B Texas driver's license within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fire, hazardous materials, and technical rescue incidents.
• Operates fire suppression equipment and uses hoses, ladders, and extinguishers.
• Maintains facilities, apparatus, and equipment; assists with training.
• Participates in fire prevention, inspects extinguishers, and educates the public.
• Acts in administrative duties and prepares reports as needed.
