Washington County, MD, is hiring full-time Firefighter-Fire Apparatus Operators. Applicants will not need prior fire/EMS certifications or experience to apply.

The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a starting hourly wage of $23.79 with overtime after 96 hours in a 14-day period. The role involves firefighting, technical rescue, auto extrication, hazmat, EMS, and driving/operating emergency vehicles.

Qualifications

• Applicants will not need prior fire/EMS certifications or experience to apply.
• Successful completion of the Firefighter PAT is required to be considered for interview.
• A Firefighter Medical Clearance Form must be completed and signed before PAT mentoring/testing.
• Continued employment is contingent on successful completion of the Washington County Fire/EMS Recruit Academy.

Responsibilities

• Responds to firefighting, rescue, hazmat, EMS and other emergency operations.
• Drives and operates emergency vehicles and all types of fire apparatus.
• Performs fire suppression, rescue, exposure protection and overhaul tasks.
• Provides basic life support prehospital emergency medical care.
• Performs inspections, maintenance and cleaning of vehicles/equipment to ensure readiness.
