Job summary

The Lynchburg Fire Department is seeking experienced Firefighters- Advanced Life Support (ALS). Compensation listed as $54,516.80 with EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic credentials. Requires completion of a 22-week recruit academy and various state and federal certifications.

Must have a valid VA driver's license and be eligible for ALS certification up to Paramedic. City of Lynchburg is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
EMT-B or Paramedic certification required (VAOEMS or National Registry).
Must possess valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Completion of 22-week paid recruit academy during initial employment period.

Responsibilities

Respond to alarms, drive and operate apparatus and equipment, assist in fire suppression including entry, lines, rescue, ventilation, salvage, and extrication.
Respond to EMS calls, provide pre-hospital basic/advanced life support and transport patients.
Extricate victims from vehicle wrecks and collapsed structures; perform salvage and overhaul.
