Job summary

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) is recruiting Firefighter Academy Instructors for upcoming academies under its EMS and Training Division. The role includes delivering OCFA curricula, ensuring student safety, and conducting evaluations, with a 4/10 Monday-Thursday schedule.

Qualified internal candidates must be current non-probationary OCFA Fire Captains, Apparatus Engineers, or Firefighters with at least 3 years of service. SAP and SIP compensation apply as per the IAFF Local 3631 MOU.

Qualifications

• Must be a current non-probationary (all ranks) OCFA Fire Captain, Fire Apparatus Engineer, or Firefighter with at least 3 years of experience.
• OCFA internal recruitment only for qualified internal candidates.
• Ability to deliver instruction and manage recruit evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction of SFT Firefighter 1 and 2 and OCFA-specific curricula.
• Ensure the safety of students and faculty during all course-related activities.
• Conduct recruit evaluations and proctor tests and measurements.
• Maintain training spaces and resources required to deliver quality instruction.
