Job summary

The Nantucket Fire Department seeks a Career Firefighter/EMT. Under supervision, you will perform fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials responses, auto extrication, and public education events to protect life and property in Nantucket.

Starting hourly salary ranges from $42.09 to $61.83; with EMT, from $43.35 to $61.83. This is a full-time, union position with comprehensive benefits, including retirement pension and health insurance options.

Qualifications

• Certified Massachusetts EMTs may apply and will be required to maintain certification as condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Firefighter/ EMT / (Paramedic Preferred)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Nantucket Fire Department seeks to fill a vacancy for the position of Career Firefighter/EMT. Prior experience as an EMT/ EMT-P is preferred. Under the supervision of a Captain, the Firefighter is required to perform routine and specialized duties associated with a range of services including but not limited to fire suppression, emergency medical, hazardous materials incidents, auto extrication, and public relations/education events to protect lives and property in the Town of Nantucket. The Firefighter performs in accordance with department policies, department personnel by-laws, rules and regulations, standard operating guidelines, State EMS protocols or otherwise instructed by a superior officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified Massachusetts EMTs may apply and will be required to maintain certification as condition of employment.

Full-time; Benefits; Union position

Starting Annual Salary:

$42.09 per hour (new hires) - $61.83 per hour (employees with 20 years of service with the Town of Nantucket)

With EMT:

$43.35 per hour (new hires) - $61.83 per hour
