Job summary

The City of Burleson is hiring Firefighter/Paramedics. Respond to fire, rescue and medical emergencies up to Advanced Life Support depending on your certification, while keeping stations and equipment ready for action.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and hold or be pursuing paramedic certification; reciprocity with other states is welcome. First responder training and certification completion are required within stated timelines.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as Firefighter (TCFP) and EMT or Paramedic, or equivalent reciprocity.
• Paramedic certification preferred; ability to obtain multiple credentials.

Responsibilities

• Responds to all fire, rescue, medical, and other calls for service up to ALS/MIH depending on certification.
• Maintains station, vehicles and equipment for fire suppression and prevention.

Responds to all fire, rescue, medical, and other calls for service up to and including Advanced Life Support/Mobile Integrated Health depending on certification. Sustains a high level of preparedness for emergencies, and maintains station, vehicles and equipment for fire suppression/prevention.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Must have the following certifications:Basic firefighter certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection AND EMT or Paramedic Certification OR
Paramedic certification OR
Hold certification with a fire or EMS agency in another state that has reciprocity with the State of Texas or IFSAC seal and/or National Registry
Once assigned by the department, you must be able to successfully complete courses, obtain and retain TCFP Basic Fire Certification, EMT, EMT-A, Paramedic, and/or successfully complete our medical director credentialing process.
Valid Texas Class "B" Drivers License with good driving record within one (1) year of employment.
Paramedic certification preferred.

Requirements

Applicants who will have Paramedic certification test results (DSHS or National Registry) by 10/15 will be considered.

*Includes $4,800 paramedic certification pay
