Job summary

Rural King in Mattoon, IL is seeking an Associate Buyer to own product assortment, financial planning, and vendor partnerships across the category. You will collaborate with an integrated cross-functional team to drive sales and inventory optimization.

Responsibilities include managing POs, setting up new vendors, maintaining product data, and leading seasonal merchandising, pricing, and promotions to achieve department goals.

Qualifications

• At least 1–3 years of retail experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn ERP and other systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Buyers, Inventory Planners, and Sourcing to drive sales and manage inventory.
• Lead projects that contribute to store and department growth.
• Maintain vendor and product information (style, SKU, pricing, UPC).
• Set up new vendors, items, and initial orders for seasonal programs.
• Monitor POs for on-time shipping and follow up with vendors as needed.
• Develop pricing, promotions, and merchandising plans.
