Job summary

Atlantic Emergency Solutions in Roanoke, VA is seeking a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, and more on fire trucks and ambulances. This role involves preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and accurate documentation of labor and parts used.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, indoor shop work with occasional field tasks, and benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) match, PTO from day one, and tool

Qualifications

• Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems.
• Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on fire trucks and ambulances.
• Documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage.
• Completing safety inspections and ensuring vehicles are ready for service.
• Maintaining a clean, safe work area and following OSHA and company safety standards.
• Assisting other technicians and working as part of a team.

Competitive Pay range: $25.00 - $45.00, depending on experience

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Overtime is available
• No rotating shifts
• Paid holidays (no waiting period)

Work Environment

• Primary work environment is an indoor service and maintenance shop, with occasional field or outdoor work as needed.

Key Job Duties
