Job summary

Atlantic Emergency Solutions is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service fire trucks and ambulances in Asheville, NC. You will diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics, while performing preventative maintenance and ensuring readiness for service.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, physical capability, and the ability to pass pre-employment screenings. We offer a stable schedule with potential overtime and a supportive shop environment.

Qualifications

• Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems.
• Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on fire trucks and ambulances.
• Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage.
• Completing safety inspections and ensuring vehicles are ready for service.
• Maintaining a clean, safe work area and following OSHA and company safety standards.
• Assisting other technicians as needed and working as part of a team.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Overtime is available
• No rotating shifts
• Paid holidays (no waiting period)

Work Environment

• Asheville, NC
• Primary work environment is an indoor service and maintenance shop, with occasional field or outdoor work as needed.
