Job summary

Atlantic Emergency Solutions in Chester, VA is seeking a diesel mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, and air systems on fire trucks and ambulances.

You will perform preventative maintenance, document repairs, and ensure vehicles are ready for service in a clean, safe shop environment. Overtime is available; benefits include insurance, 401(k) with match, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Diesel mechanic experience is required or preferred for heavy-duty or emergency vehicles.
• Ability to meet physical demands and pass pre-employment screening.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fire trucks and ambulances.
• Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage.
• Completing safety inspections and ensuring vehicles are ready for service.
• Maintaining a clean, safe work area and following OSHA and company safety standards.

Competitive Pay range: $25.00 - $45.00, depending on experience

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Overtime is available
• No rotating shifts
• Paid holidays (no waiting period)

Work Environment

• Chester, VA
• Primary work environment is an indoor service and maintenance shop, with occasional field or outdoor work as needed.
• Specialty work on fire trucks and ambulances

Key Job Duties

• Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems
• performing preventative maintenance and repairs on fire trucks and ambulances
• Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage
• Completing safety inspections and ensuring vehicles are ready for service

• Assisting other technicians as needed and working as part of a team

Requirements

• Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
