Job description

Fire Systems Technician - Antarctica McMurdo Station

We are seeking a qualified Fire Systems Technician to join our team at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire systems, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

  1. Fire System Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and perform scheduled preventative maintenance on fire systems in accordance with NFPA standards, manufacturer's guidelines, and the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  2. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose issues, troubleshoot, and repair fire systems promptly.
  3. Collaboration: Work with NICET certified technicians, Facilities Management, Engineers, and other station personnel to develop work plans, schedules, and execute tasks.
  4. Documentation: Prepare and document work plans, hazard analyses, safety analyses, checklists, and procedural documents.
  5. Emergency Response: Respond timely to emergency service calls during and outside normal working hours.
  6. Coordination: Coordinate testing, maintenance, and repairs with relevant parties such as the Antarctic Fire Department and station management.
  7. Additional Responsibilities: Utilize station personnel to assist with tasks and support other trades or departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current NICET Level II Fire System Certification
  • United States Driver's License
