The Fire Systems Technician will be responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, configuring, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites. This includes panel programming, resolving low voltage circuit troubles, and system testing.
What You'll Do
- Partner with a senior technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable life-safety and fire-safety standards, codes, and customer expectations.
- Perform programming, testing, inspections, and customer training for installations.
- Complete and submit all required documentation promptly.
- Detect and troubleshoot system malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Build strong customer relationships through effective communication and service.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, ensuring it is stocked with necessary parts and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
- High school diploma or GED; vocational or trade school courses in electrical, electronics, or communication systems preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in low voltage systems installation or maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meters, and commissioning devices.
- Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Proficiency with computer functions and software such as Windows, Word, iOS, Android, and Outlook.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Sense of urgency, self-initiative, dedication, and ownership.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in various environments and conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Ability to use hand tools, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
- Must be able to carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
