Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking an entry-level Fire Suppression Inspector Apprentice to assist with testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems, including extinguishers and hoods. You will work under supervision and not independently perform inspections or testing.

Responsibilities include assisting senior technicians, inspecting valves and components, using hand tools, and documenting results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No minimum experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fire suppression systems.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Ability to work effectively in team environments.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in good condition.
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Fire Suppression Inspector Apprentice is an entry-level role responsible for assisting with the testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems including extinguishers and commercial kitchen hoods. The technician works under direct supervision and is not expected to independently perform inspections or testing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist senior technicians with the testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and special hazard systems.
• Support the inspection of valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Help perform basic functional testing and visual inspections of suppression systems.
• Assist with documenting inspection results, deficiencies, and job site conditions.
• Follow all company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and proper working condition.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Pay Range:

• $20/hr - $28/hr (depending on experience)
