Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking an entry-level Fire Suppression Inspector Apprentice in Sidney, NE. You will assist senior technicians with testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include documenting inspection results, ensuring safety procedures, and traveling to job sites as required. No prior experience is required; HS diploma or equivalent is sufficient as a starting point, with comprehensive on-the-job training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No minimum experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fire suppression systems.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Ability to work effectively in team environments.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Support the inspection of valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Help perform basic functional testing and visual inspections of suppression systems.
• Assist with documenting inspection results, deficiencies, and job site conditions.
• Follow all company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and proper working condition.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Fire Suppression Inspector Apprentice is an entry-level role responsible for assisting with the testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems including extinguishers and commercial kitchen hoods. The technician works under direct supervision and is not expected to independently perform inspections or testing.

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Pay Range:

$20/hr - $28/hr (depending on experience)
