Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Pasco, WA is seeking a field technician to perform testing, inspection and maintenance of fire suppression systems, including commercial kitchen hoods and extinguishers. You will read blueprints, document findings, and communicate status to customers and supervisors while traveling to sites and upholding safety policies.

Candidates should have at least 3 years in the fire and life safety industry, a valid driver's license, and certifications such as NICET I or ICC FK

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety industry as apprentice or technician.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• ICC FK – Pre-engineered Kitchen Fire Extinguishing Systems Technician required.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain fire suppression systems including commercial kitchen hood systems and fire extinguishers.
• Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, connections, and related suppression system components.
• Perform functional testing to verify proper system operation and compliance with codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and supervisors.
• Read and interpret blueprints, system layouts, inspection reports, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete inspection work efficiently and safely.
• Complete inspection reports, deficiency documentation, and service records accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
