Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to receive and diagnose service calls, perform on-site repairs, and ensure reliable operation of water-based fire protection systems across commercial and industrial facilities.

The role requires 3–5 years of sprinkler experience, proficiency with Word/Excel/Outlook, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. On-call rotation and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler systems.
  • Computer/phone skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook are preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from Service Resource Center and identify equipment problems.
  • Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and residential applications.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Maintain strong customer service, with organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

What you will do

Receive service calls from Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions. Contact customer representative and ascertain equipment/systems problems. Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and residential applications. These include but are not limited to wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge and fire pumps.

How you will do it
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Must have the ability to work alone.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. in order to diagnose and repair equipment.
What we look for
Required
  • 3-5 years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler
  • Have computer/phone skills - Word, Excel, Outlook and mobile apps and functions
  • Be able to perform service work on all water-based fire protection systems
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements
  • Must maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs
  • Must adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Must be able to follow, read and understand all safety requirement of the company and the customer
  • This role does require an on-call rotation
Preferred
  • NICET certification is a plus
  • Backflow certification is a plus
  • Fire pump experience a plus

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.05 - 40.00 Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
