Job summary

J. F. Ahern Co. in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Sales Representative to help upgrade existing customers' systems, develop and grow a customer base, and support bidding of fire protection projects.

You will coordinate preliminary design, prepare pricing, manage estimates, and work with designers and construction superintendents to ensure competitive bids and successful turnover.

Qualifications

• Two-plus years of fire protection contracting experience.
• Design, sales, project management or field experience considered.
• Experience bidding work and estimating is a plus.
• Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills.

How you will contribute:

You will estimate upgrades to existing customers' fire sprinkler systems and leverage your persuasion and relationship management skills by developing and growing a customer base. Apply your project management abilities by performing preliminary design, bid estimates, preparing pricing for materials, labor, freight, and fabrication, and seeking out competitive vendors and services to assure that Ahern's fire protection projects are competitively bid. You will also be responsible for preparing scope and quotation letters for customers, maintaining monthly estimate logs, meeting with management on a regular basis to discuss current estimating backlog and due dates, participating in turnover meetings as required, and assisting with any follow-up information with the customer as is requested, assuming an active role in managing the projects in conjunction with the designer and construction superintendent.

What you need to qualify:

Ahern will make the most out of your two-plus years of fire protection contracting experience. The ideal candidates with design, sales, project management or field experience will all be considered. You will stand out if you have prior experience in bidding work and a strong understanding of estimating. Must have excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills; the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
